Successful production of peanuts is attributed to a few well executed steps:
- Superior nodulation provides maximum yield potential
- Balanced fertility with careful attention so Calcium is critical
- Excellent weed control can sometimes cause root and pod damage
- Rotation is critical to maintain a long term production program
- With regard to pests an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
- Maturation is critical as a high percentage of kernel weight is gained in the last few weeks of the season
- None of the above are relevant if peanuts are dug and harvested incorrectly
- Always consult a peanut specialist before attempting to grow this crop
- Freeze damage makes your crop worthless
